Location: Poured from the can into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL.
Numbers: 6.3% ABV, 65 IBUs, 7 SRM, ~200 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s perfectly golden in color, and fairly clear, with a good bit of carbonation in it. It had a bright white, creamy head, that fell to a thin layer after a few minutes. It has a very nice, bright, fresh citrusy-grassy aroma.
Taste & Feel: The body is medium, and the mouthfeel is slightly crisp from the hops, but a little bit watery. Up front, it has a citrusy-grassy hop juiciness, and in the middle, it gets slightly sweet with a very bright, light hop juiciness. In the finish, the citrusy-grassy hop flavors come through and grow with more flavor than bitterness. However, it’s the citrusy-grassy bitterness that lasts for a brief time in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: This was a bright, crisp, fresh IPA with a lot of citrusy and grassy hop flavors. Before the steak, I paired this beer with a Portillo’s cobb salad, which has chicken and pasta in it, and it went perfectly together.
Overall Impression: Maybe it was the Dogfish Head 120 and Lagunitas Waldos triple IPA that I had right before I had this beer, but it seemed awfully watery to me for an IPA. The hop flavors were very light and bright, but along with the mouthfeel, it seemed a bit watery. While it would be a nice IPA for a hot day, it seemed a bit light to me.
