It was clear and light orange in color with almost no head on it. The aroma was a citrusy hop smell with a little bit of a malty-caramelly smell.
The body was medium and it had a smooth, but crisp mouthfeel. There was a bit of malt flavor up front before the citrusy and slighly piney hop flavor came in during the middle and finish. The hop flavors lasted well into the finish, leaving a nice hop flavor on my tongue.
I would probably enjoy this before dinner with something like a pretzel or rolls, as I enjoy the back and forth of bready and hoppy flavors. It would probably also be OK with a dinner salad or burger. The salad would be light enough not to detract from the flavors and the burger would be a flavorful addition to the hop flavors.
Ever since I completed my Oktoberfest Challenge, made up of mostly pumpkin flavored and sweet malty beers, I’ve been enjoying hoppy IPAs. This one was pretty good with the citrus and piney flavors I’ve grown to enjoy. I’m not sure which I like better, Centennial hop flavors or citrusy flavors like the Cascade hop flavor that this beer seemed to have. Overall, while nothing stood out about this IPA, it was a good beer that was true to the style with mostly citrusy and slightly piney hop flavors.
