It was a clear, straw-yellow color, and it had a creamy head with some larger soap-like bubbles. The aroma was a big citrusy hop smell.
When I took a drink, it had a fairly thin body and had a decent malt backbone to stand up to the big, complex hop flavor which followed. The most obvious hop flavor was a Cascade hop-like citrusy flavor, but there was also some grassyness and floral hop characteristics in there as well.
As I continued to drink it, it had some very nice carbonation lacing on the glass. A bit of alcohol warmth was slightly noticeable after drinking it for a little bit, but other than that, I never would have guessed this was an Imperial IPA – it was just too light and refreshing. A very good, easily drinkable beer, I would probably pair this one with a good burger or pizza. Overall, I really liked this beer, and, assuming it is fairly high in alcohol, it could be extremely dangerous given how light and refreshing it was. Next time I’m up in NYC, I’ll have to get a few more of these.
