When I poured it in the glass, it was a hazy copper color, and it had a nice head. However, the head fell quick to almost nothing but a ring of bubbles around top of the glass. It had a sweet malt smell and an aroma that reminded me a bit of honey.
It had a light body and a creamy mouthfeel. The flavor was a light, sweet, caramelly malt flavor followed by a very toasty flavor. That toastiness reminded me of New Belgium’s Fat Tire, but there was definitely more of it in this beer. There was a hint of hop bitterness, but it was mostly a toasty, caramelly malt flavor.
I think those flavors would complement St. Louis style BBQ ribs very nicely. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good beer, and one I think the toasty flavor would be great sitting on the porch on a cool fall evening.
