Location: Poured into a pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL
Numbers: 5.2% ABV, 34 IBUs, 13 SRM, 110 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s amber in color and fairly hazy, with a decent white head on it, which fell after several minutes to a thin layer of creamy bubbles covering the top. It has a grassy-floral hop aroma with some maltiness behind it.
Taste & Feel: The body is light and the mouthfeel is fairly crisp from the carbonation and hops. The flavor up front is lightly malty sweet with some citrus-floral flavors from the hops. The middle is mostly sweet maltiness with some grassy-earthy hoppiness underneath. The finish has a distinct malty sweetness mixed with unique hop flavors that are grassy, earthy, and floral with some citrus and spiciness underneath. The hoppiness lasts for a few minutes in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: There are a lot of hop flavors in this beer which paired nicely with the fried cheeseballs I had with this beer. I think it would also be a great beer to pair with spicy Mexican or Thai food as well.
Overall Impression: This beer didn’t have a style listed on it, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a good beer that I’d guess would be a pale ale. I enjoyed the complex hop flavor that was a little hard to pin down. Although it wasn’t very bitter, there was a good hop flavor with a solid malty base underneath. Overall, it was a pretty good beer, and I’m going to see if I can find more Six Point beers soon.
