It had a very nice, thick, creamy, tan head on it. It was an almost brick-red color, but very clear. The aroma was surprisingly subtle for something called a wet hop ale, but it did have a nice light hoppy smell to it.
The body was fairly light, and the mouthfeel was very creamy. It was very nicely balanced, with, obviously, a little more hop flavor. The hop flavors were somewhat grassy, but nice and light. If you were a big hop head you might have wanted more hop flavor, but I thought the light hop flavor was very good (and of course if you were a macrobrewery beer drinker, this would have too much hop flavor for you).
This could pretty much go with almost any meal, but I’d select a nice big American burger. Overall, I was expecting this to have a much bigger hop flavor, but it was still very, very good. The hops were definitely not overpowering, but they still stuck around for quite a while in the aftertaste. For sure, this is one I’d try again if it were on tap somewhere, or maybe even buy a bomber of it for a nice summer evening.
