Location: Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL.
Numbers: 5.8% ABV, ~170 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s golden in color with some amber hues, and it’s slightly hazy. The thin head is creamy white with a resinous and citrusy hop aroma.
Taste & Feel: The body is light and the mouthfeel is crisp, bordering on sharp. Up front, the flavor is sweet and citrusy with a bit of a crisp hop bite. In the middle, there’s a bit of a citrusy honey flavor. A resinous hop flavor kicks in during the finish, along with a citrusy hop flavor and bitterness. The resin and citrus hop flavors last for a minute in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: I think resinous and citrusy hop flavors like the ones in this beer go best with greasy bar goods, like cheeseburgers, hot wings, and pizza.
Overall Impression: This beer had a good hop flavor, and it was a very drinkable beer. I think it could have used more dry hops for aroma, as well as more more malt flavor, and a smoother body. Overall, it’s a good beer, with a good mix of hop flavors and bitterness, but there are areas that could be improved, making it a middle of the road IPA.
