I’m over at my in-laws today for a Memorial Day weekend BBQ. My wife wanted to stop to get some beer to bring by that we could share and chose this. It wasn’t until I was having my second one that I realized that I hadn’t yet reviewed this beer.
Location: Bottle drank at my in-laws in Bloomington, IL.
Numbers: 4.6% ABV, 148 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: I could see through the clear bottle that it was a very pale yellow color and had fizzy white head on it that fell almost as quickly as it rose. There was a very slight, light corn aroma.
Taste & Feel: It was very light bodied and crisp from the carbonation in it. There was a very light bready and adjunct-like lager flavor in the middle with a very slight twinge of bitterness on the finish.
Food Pairing: How could I recommend having this with anything other than Mexican food. It’s light and watery enough to help wash down spicy food, as well as thick bean dishes.
Overall Impression: Until I did this review, I don’t think I ever stopped to take notice of how light and watery this beer actually is. I was surprised when I tried to pick out flavors in it, how difficult it actually was to pick out much taste in it. I guess that’s why it’s great for a day at the beach, because it’s the closest thing you can get to drinking water.
