Appearance & Aroma: It was a somewhat hazy brown-orange color with a solid, foamy, cream-colored head. The aroma was surprisingly sweet and malty with a bit of fruitiness and a smaller bit of earthy/muddy hoppiness.
Taste & Feel: It was medium bodied and had a nice amount of carbonation in it. Up front, there was a bit of crisp carbonation and a creamy, sweet malty caramel flavor. A citrusy hop flavor took over in the middle and finished off the taste nicely. The finish was slightly dry with the citrusy flavor tailing off in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: This would be pretty good with almost any of the pub type food available at the sports bar where I was – burgers and fries, pizza, and even the fish tacos I had here a couple nights later.
Overall Impression: It was a pretty good IPA, and I appreciated both the creamy caramelly malt flavor, as well as the citrusy hop flavor. It wasn’t an over the top IPA with lots of hops… it was pretty true to the style. I can’t say that there was anything remarkable about it, but overall, it was a decent beer.
