I arrived at the iMedia Brand Summit I was headed to at the Hyatt Lost Pines resort, just south of Austin. After the second night of the conference, I headed to the hotel bar to see if I could find any local brews on tap. I got lucky and found this one, even though I had to look up where it was brewed, since the waitress didn’t know the brewer.
Numbers: 5.1% ABV, 21 IBUs, 12 OG (plato)
Appearance & Aroma: A very bright gold color, it was very slightly hazy with a nice, white creamy head on it. There was some nice lacing on the glass as I drank it. There was a light honey-like malt aroma to it.
Taste & Feel: Fairly light bodied, there was a slight bit of carbonation tingle up front, followed by some light cracker and corn flavors. In the finish there was a hint of bitterness, along with the malt flavors, but it was pretty balanced throughout.
Food Pairing: Since this beer was pretty light and had some softer flavors, it would probably go well with almost anything. In particular, it would be good to help wash down some good solid bar food, like pizza or burgers. It would also probably help to wash down some spicy, local Tex/Mex food.
Overall Impression: The flavors were pretty light, as well as the body, and combined with the crispness up front, it was a very drinkable beer. I could easily see enjoying this on a nice, hot, Texas afternoon. I think it could have had a little more flavor, but overall, it was nicely balanced and went down quickly.

I found this one to be not TOO remarkable, but certainly not bad and drinkable. I keep saying: This is what a bud or coors would taste like, if bud or coors were brewed by competent, caring brewers. Overall it’s getting respectable ratings over on Barley Buddy so far, but no home runs yet.
