It poured a dark black color with a nice head. However, the head quickly fell to become just a few tiny bubbles at the top. The smell was faint, but what I could smell, smelled like roasted barley with a bit of chocolate and molasses.
It had a light-medium body, and was pretty smooth and creamy. The taste was like a debittered black patent malt with a bit of a coffee flavor to it. It went down pretty smoothly and was more refreshing than I was expecting from a stout.
I had this with some Thai food, but honestly, it was not a very good combination. I’m thinking this would go better with desserts, such as chocolate cake or cherry pie.
