Appearance & Aroma: It was slightly hazy and golden-straw colored. It had a very thick, creamy, bright-white head on it, which left some nice lacing on the glass. The aroma was fairly hoppy, with some floral and plenty of citrusy hop aromas.
Taste & Feel: The mouthfeel was very creamy, thanks to the big head on it, and it was medium bodied, yet crisp. The flavors up front were sweet and citrusy, with a little bit of fruitiness to it. In the middle, a citrusy and piney-resiny hop flavor kicked in, carrying through the finish and into the aftertaste. The citrusy hop bitterness stuck around for a bit on my palate.
Food Pairing: I’m not sure why, but while drinking this, I began thinking about having some nachos. I think the chips and cheese would match the bitterness of the beer in an interesting way.
Overall Impression: This was a very smooth drinking beer with plenty of the hop flavor I was craving. I appreciated the nice creamy head, and the way the bitterness snuck up a bit after the sweet flavors up front. The hop flavor was a bit complex, making it even more enjoyable. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good IPA.
