254. Potosi Brewing – Potosi Snake Hollow India Pale Ale IPA

Potosi Snake Hollow India Pale Ale IPAI’ve mentioned in a couple previous reviews that my friend Jim took a trip to Wisconsin and brought several beers back for me to try.  This was one of a few he brought me from Potosi brewing, in Potosi, WI.

Numbers: 7% ABV, 70 IBUs

Appearance & Aroma: This was golden yellow and extremely clear with a decent sized, bright white, foamy head, which left some nice lacing on the glass.  There appeared to be plenty of carbonation in it, and there was an earthy-piney hop aroma.

Taste & Feel: Light-medium bodied with a crisp carbonation mouthfeel.  There was a bit of a lemony-citrus and floral-honey flavor in the middle, and a floral- piney hop finish and aftertaste. It wasn’t a real big hop flavor, but a good one, which was still strong enough to be appropriate for the style.

Food Pairing: The lemon zest and slightly floral flavors might make this a good pairing for salmon, as it would add to, and bring out some of the spices and flavors used when cooking salmon.

Overall Impression: This was a very drinkable and refreshing beer, with an interesting hop flavor.  You wouldn’t guess it was bumped up in alcohol content, and it’s definitely a summer beer, which might be good after coming in from mowing the lawn.

My Rating: ★★★☆☆
