It had a slightly hazy orange/amber color and a head that fell quickly to almost nothing. There was a pumpkin aroma, as well as cinnamon and some other spices.
The body was medium to full, and it had a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with just a tiny bit of carbonation. There was a slight pumpkin flavor, which gave way to a cinnamon spiciness. It finished with a slightly hard cinnamon flavor, bordering on harsh. The slight carbonation adds to the bite of the cinnamon a bit.
The beer had a lot of spice flavors and a slight bit of pumpkin flavor. Therefore, I think it would go well with pumpkin pie, as its spices would bring something to the pie.
This beer didn’t taste like pumpkin pie in a bottle, instead it was more of a pumpkin spiced beer with a little too much cinnamon. It reminded me a lot of the Schlafly Pumpkin Ale I had a few days ago. Given a little bit of time to let the cinnamon flavor mellow, this would be a very good pumpkin spiced beer.
