176. Wynkoop Brewing – Mile HI.P.A. IPA Draft

I met up with my friend from the homebrew club at Great Divide, and we knew we needed to grab a bite to eat to get something in our stomachs before heading over to the Great American Beer Festival.  Although I had already been to Wynkoop a couple of days ago, it seemed to be the best place to grab a bite between Great Divide and the convention center.  It was also a chance to try another one of their beers, and since I was in the mile high city, I thought I’d go for their Mile HI.P.A.

It was golden in color with a slighly orange hue, and there was a thin creamy head on it, which left some nice lacing on the glass.  There was a nice piney hop aroma and a slight caramel malty smell.

The body was medium and it had a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.  There was a nice honey/caramel malt flavor up front before a piney and citrusy hop flavor kicked in and carried through the finish.  The hop flavors stuck around for a little bit in the aftertaste and was a nice flavor.

This went very nicely with my bison burger, and I can’t think of a meal that it would go any better with.  Overall, I found it to be crisp and refreshing with a good hop flavor that I enjoyed.  If you visit the mile high city, I definitely recommend stopping at Wynkoop and trying the Mile HI.P.A.
