Location: Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL
Numbers: 4.8% ABV, ~100 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s actually more copper in color than amber, but it is very clear. It had a nice and thick pillowy white head, which fell to a thin creamy layer over the top after a few minutes. The aroma is a very nice caramel maltiness.
Taste & Feel: The body is light-medium, and the mouthfeel is fairly smooth. The flavor up front is caramel malty with very faint hints of nuttiness. It smooths out in the middle with the introduction of a little bit of bitterness. The bitterness slightly surpasses the malty sweetness in the finish, and both flavors last for a little bit in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: Because of the maltiness, I think this beer would pair very nicely with a thick juicy burger or meatloaf.
Overall Impression: I really enjoyed the Caramel malty aroma and flavor in this beer. The hop bitterness entered very smoothly and balanced it quite nicely. Overall, I enjoyed this beer and look forward to trying more of Natty Greene’s beers.
