Location: Poured into a TEKU glass at my home in Bloomington, IL
Numbers: 13% ABV, ~440 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s golden-orange in color and fairly hazy, with a little bit of sediment visible in it. The head fell to a thin layer of soap-like bubbles. The aroma is a big piney-citrusy hoppiness.
Taste & Feel: The body is full and the mouthfeel is smooth and a bit viscous. Up front, it’s pretty sweet and citrusy with a big juicy fruit flavor. The sweet juicy fruit flavor grows even bigger in middle and is joined by some bitterness. In the finish, it’s a huge juicy fruit sweetness with a good dose of bitterness behind it. The flavors are so bold it hits the salivary glands. The juicy fruit flavor and bitterness last for quite a while in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: There’s a lot of flavor in this beer and I’m not sure any food could really stand up to it. I’d go for a thick, juicy burger to help hold it back – but I also think the juicy fruit flavors would compliment the toasted bun.
Overall Impression: This is a HUGE, flavorful beer with a ton of hop sweetness and some bitterness to help cut it back. The bold flavor covers any alcohol flavor or heat. It’s flavors are really juicy and are so strong they make your mouth water along with it, and the sweetness really stands out. You wouldn’t think it was necessarily such a big beer, but if you’re looking for a big flavor, you couldn’t ask for more. Overall, I found it really unique and flavorful but not a beer I could drink often or a whole lot of.
