Location: Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL.
Numbers: 5.1% ABV, 150 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s dark brown-mahogany in color and pretty clear. The head fell quickly to just a crown of creamy foam around the edge of the glass, and there’s a mix of dark bread and lagers aroma with some caramel hints.
Taste & Feel: The body is light-medium and somewhat crisp from the carbonation. There’s a dark bready flavor up front, which gets a bit richer in the middle with some caramel in the back. It finishes with and dark bread and earthy hop bitterness with some hop spiciness. The dark bread flavor last briefly in the aftertaste.
Food Pairing: The dark bready flavors in this beer would definitely help to knock down some spicy foods. Therefore, I’d pair this beer with Mexican food or a spicy chili.
Overall Impression: This beer had light flavors of dark bread and caramel, making it very drinkable. I enjoyed these flavors, but there was a little bit of a lagery tinge. Overall, it had a good flavor, but not something outstanding that would make me crave or remember it. I would like to try another beer from this brewery, and I think I have another one from my sister in the beer fridge.
