Location: Poured into a curved pint glass at my home in Bloomington, IL.
Numbers: 4.5% ABV, ~120 Calories
Appearance & Aroma: It’s a rusty reddish-orange color, with a very slight haze. It has a thin creamy head with good retention and lacing. There’s a caramel malty aroma with an almost fusel alcohol smell, mixed earthy hops.
Taste & Feel: The body is light medium, and there’s a crisp mouthfeel. It has a bready maltiness up front, which turns into a semi-sweet caramel maltiness in middle. It finishes with an earthy, noble hop like bitterness the slightly overtakes the caramel maltiness. The combination on those lasts for a bit in the aftertaste
Food Pairing: This beer had a good amount of maltiness, with some bready and caramel flavors. I’d pair this beer with a thick, juicy burger, as the bready caramel flavors would mix nicely with the bun and juicy beef. The maltiness would also go nicely with BBQ as well.
Overall Impression: I enjoyed the malty flavors in this beer, along with the dose of noble hop-like bitterness. The flavors weren’t too bold, making it a very drinkable beer with a good amount of flavor. I felt the bitterness was a bit too high on the finish, and the malty flavors could have been slightly richer. Overall, it was a decent beer, but there wasn’t much memorable about it.
