One of the inspirations for this blog was the 999 beers blog by Dave Selden. His quest is to drink 999 beers in 999 days, and he provides excellent tasting notes on each beer. I’m not trying to “one-up” Dave, as I often don’t have a beer every single day. HOWEVER, for the month of October, I’ve challenged myself to try to have a beer every day AND ensure that it is a seasonal beer that relates to every beer lovers favorite month – Oktoberfest!
I started brewing a pumpkin beer about 6 years ago and have done at least 2 batches every year since. Most of it is drunk between October 1 and Thanksgiving. So, I’m kind of a big pumpkin beer fan. Every year, I see more and more pumpkin beers on the market, and you can be assured that there will be plenty of those sampled during he month. There will also be a lot of Oktoberfest beers from a variety of brands.
Wish me luck on my Oktoberfest challenge, and let me know if you have any recommendations for seasonal beers that I haven’t tried yet – or that you’d like me to try instead of you buying it (I’m a willing experimental subject).
