When it arrived, it was very black and had a thin creamy head on it. There was some nice lacing on the glass as well. There was a very roasty aroma from the black and chocolate malts.
The body was light and it was crisp with a little bit of carbonation tingle on my tongue. There was a light chocolaty maltiness up front, followed by a nice roastiness. The finish was mostly roasty, but there was also a slight nuttiness.
It went very nicely with my mushroom and swiss bison burger, and I honestly couldn’t think of a much better meal to pair this beer with.
Overall, I thought it was a nice, flavorful beer with a light body. It was fairly drinkable with some nice roasty flavors. Although it was a little more roasty than I was expecting from a dark lager, it was a good beer.
