The beer menu wasn’t huge, but since we can’t really get Yuengling in Illinois, and because it was on draft, I went for the traditional lager from “America’s Oldest Brewery” in Pottsville, PA.
The beer was a LIGHT amber color (you can’t tell here because of the back light) with a very thin head. Again, I was fighting off a travel cold, so my sense of smell wasn’t the best, but I did smell a faint aroma of a honey/caramel.
The body was light and refreshing, but it seemed a bit watery, as the carbonation didn’t seem to have much impact. My first taste was a bit sweet malt, like honey, which evolved to a slight grainy/caramel flavor. It was smooth and went down easy.
It went well with the remoulade sauce I had with my fish, but it was a little caramely for my mahi-mahi by itself. It’s light and watery, and would be a good one to grab after mowing the lawn. For some reason, I also thought this would be a good one to enjoy with popcorn while watching a movie at home.
