It was fairly olden in color with aslight amber hue. It had thin head which fell to almost nothing pretty quickly. There wasn’t much of an aroma coming from it, only a very light malty breadiness.
The body was light-medium, and the mouthfeel was crisp. There was a light caramel flavor throughout, with a hint of a slightly woody and rye-bread flavor in the finish. I’m not sure if the rye-bread like flavor came from the ingredients or it was a lagery/estery flavor from their yeast strain. These slight flavors in the finish reminded me a bit of the more prominent flavors in a California Common.
If I had to pair this with a meal, it would probably go well with a lighter meat which the light caramel flavors would complement. I’m would suggested grilled chicken as a good meal to pair with this.
While the light malt flavors made it very drinkable, the light woody/rye-bread flavors through me off a little bit. While I think I would probably reach for other Oktoberfest beers first, it was a decent seasonal beer.
