It was a slightly hazy straw gold color, and there was a soapy head which fell pretty quickly. There appeared to be a lot of carbonation in it. It was light and spritzy smelling with a slightly bready and lemony aroma.
The body was pretty light, and it was smooth drinking, yet crisp. There was a light wheaty flavor up front giving way to a bit more wheat and bready flavor. Most of the flavors were light, and reminded me quite a bit of a wheat beer.
The light bready and wheaty flavors in this beer would go very nicely as a starting beer with Thanksgiving dinner. The flavors would pair well with the light flavors of turkey, mashed potatos, gravy, and croissants.
It was a bit different from the other Oktoberfests I’ve been having. The others have been malty and carmelly marzens, while this one was more like a conditioned wheat beer. Overall, I found it to be a good, warmer weather Oktoberfest beer. It was very drinkable, and goes perfectly with the fall work out in the yard – raking leaves and cutting down my hop vines.
