It was clear with a dark brown hue and a very thin, creamy head on it. There was a hint of malty and caramel in the aroma, but not much.
When I took a drink, it had a light-medium body, and it was crisp and refreshing with the slightest bit of carbonation on my tongue. The flavors were a honey/malt like sweetness up front followed by a nice, slightly nutty, malty finish. The sweet malt flavor lasted for a little bit, but it was still quite drinakable.
It went very, very nicely with my Chicago style hotdog, but it I think it would probably have gone best with a pork steak (it’s a St. Louis thing).
Overall, I thought it was a very nice early fall beer. It’s crisp and very drinkable for a nice cool day, with a nice malt flavor on the finish. If you’re looking for an fairly low cost craft beer to bring to a fall party, this would be a decent choice.
